The UN Security Council’s last open debate for 2012 was held on December 20. Armenia’s Ambassador to UN, Karen Nazaryan, likewise delivered a presentation during the discussion that was devoted to post-conflict peacebuilding. 

Nazaryan noted that the delaying of the conflict resolution processes harms regional cooperation, curtails the peacebuilding efforts, and contains risks of a resumption of conflict.

He added that the post-conflict period enables to create a basis for sustainable development in our region, and, to this end, it is first necessary to manifest a political will and determination.    

Also, Ambassador Nazaryan noted that the US Security Council reflects on this matter very frequently.
