YEREVAN.-  Eight out of 15 potential presidential candidates have not provided collateral of AMD 8 million  (about $20 thousand) yet. Thus, Armenia’s Central Electoral Commission (CEC) decided to provide them additional 48 hours in accordance with the 79th article of the Election Code.

During the Tuesday meeting, CEC head Tigran Mukuchyan said two of the fifteen candidates, who had submitted applications, are nominated by the party, the rest are self-nominated candidates. Incumbent President Serzh Sargsyan was nominated by the Republican Party of Armenia and Hrant Bagratyan – by Freedom Party.

Presidential elections are scheduled for February 18.
