YEREVAN.- The preliminary investigation into the case of ex-head of the Armenia social fund Vazgen Khachikyan detained on suspicion of swindling and embezzlement has been completed, police told Armenian News-NEWS.am.

As of January 8, 8,300 people have been questioned, including members of the Armenia social fund and its divisions, retirees, their families and neighbors.

Fifty-three people (two are wanted) are defendants in the case. Thirteen of them have been in custody. The size of the damage inflicted is 376,716,903 AMD, of which 51,773,902 AMD have been restored. Nine criminal cases against 28 persons have been applied to the court.

In 2010 Khachikyan was dismissed form the post of fund’s head after Armenian Control Chamber detected flagrant violations during checkups into the fund.
