YEREVAN. – Armenian Prosecutor General Aghvan Hovsepyan received the Parliamentary Assembly of the Council of Europe (PACE) election observation mission delegation led by Karin Woldseth.  

The attorney general assured that the General Prosecutor’s Office of Armenia is determined to record and examine the reports on potential election violations during the forthcoming presidential voting and to give an equivalent criminal and legal assessment to these violations, the General Prosecutor’s Office press service informs.   

Hovsepyan informed that a working group is set up to exercise prosecutorial supervision with respect to gathering, recording and examining election violation reports. In addition, this working group will conduct a media monitoring during the election season. 

“In this electoral process the citizen must be confident that his/her crime alert will be investigated and the criminal will be punished. And openness is the guarantee of that confidence,” the prosecutor general said.     

Also, Aghvan Hovsepyan noted that the prosecutor’s office will carry out a widespread public awareness campaign during this election season, too.
