YEREVAN. – Armenian presidential contender, non-party affiliate, epic poetry specialist Vardan Sedrakyan paid a visit Wednesday to fellow candidate Andreas Ghukasyan—who is on a hunger strike ever since January 21—, whose health condition is not good; his blood pressure has fallen, and he is continuing his hunger strike in a lying posture (PHOTOS).

Sedrakyan asked Ghukasyan what he can help him with, and Ghukasyan replied: “Your position is a principled. We all must come together and put an end to this regime. If this mechanism is not dismantled, I will not sign the protocols of the fake [presidential] election.” 

In his turn, Sedrakyan said he believes no ethical presidential candidate would sign this protocol.

“When I saw that you are in this condition, I promise [you] that I will primarily reflect on you in my [press] conferences and interviews, as of today [Wednesday]. [And] I do not think they [that is, the other presidential hopefuls] will unite around something,” Sedrakyan said. 

Following their private conversation, Sedrakyan told news reporters that Ghukasyan is no longer able to sit, and something could happen to his health at any moment. 

“[The ruling Republican Party candidate, incumbent President] Serzh Sargsyan is a candidate and, as a candidate, he is not coming [to see Andreas Ghukasyan]. But, as the country’s president, will he not come and see the condition his country’s citizen is in?” Vardan Sedrakyan asked.
