Azerbaijani Foreign Minister Elmar Mammadyarov met GUAM Secretary General Valeri Chechelashvili. In the course of the meeting the officials discussed Georgian-Azerbaijani relations, cooperation in economic, humanitarian, transport and tourism fields, GUAM’s international ties, as well as the intensification of cooperation between GUAM member states, Azerbaijani FM statement reads.

After Viktor Yanukovych carried presidential race in Ukraine, Russia feels more reliant and free in South Caucasus and advising Azerbaijan to walk out of GUAM — an anti-Russian and pro-western organization. According to Russian experts, the organization has no prospects, as its leading member, Ukraine will shortly leave it.

GUAM Organization for Democracy and Economic Development is a regional institution of four states: Georgia, Ukraine, Azerbaijan and Moldova.
