YEREVAN. – The second elections to the Council of Elders will be held in Yerevan toady from 8am to 8pm.

A total of 464 precincts will be open in the capital of Armenia. The voters’ list includes 816,475 people.

Six political parties and one bloc have submitted formal applications to run in the Yerevan Council elections. These parties are Republican Party of Armenia (RPA), Prosperous Armenia, Orinats Yerkir, Armenian National Congress (ANC), Arakelutyun, ARF Dashnaktustyun and “Barev, Yerevan” bloc of parties

The Yerevan Council election will be held with proportional lists only. The first in RPA list is incumbent mayor Taron Margaryan.

Deputy chairman of Heritage party Armen Martirosyan is heading the list of “Barev, Yerevan” bloc, former Armenian FM Vartan Oskanian - the list of Prosperous Armenia, former mayor Vahagn Khachatryan – ANC, Armen Rustamyan –  the list of ARF Dashnaktsutyun, Emergency Situations Minister Armen Yeritsyan – the list of Orinats Yerkir and Mesrob Arakelyan – Arakelutyun party.
