YEREVAN. – The Central Electoral Commission of Armenia (CEC) on Monday issued the preliminary results of Sunday’s capital city Yerevan Council of Elders elections.    

Republican Party of Armenia – 55.86% (235,512 votes)

Prosperous Armenia Party – 23.05% (97,189)

“Barev [Hello], Yerevan” bloc – 8.47% (35,732)

Armenian National Congress Party – 4.39% (18,499)

ARF Dashnaktsutyun Party – 3.79% (15,999)

Orinats Yerkir Party – 3.73% (15,733)

Arakelutyun Party – 0.64% (2,692)

Number of ballots in ballot boxes – 436,590

Sum total of inaccuracies – 288 

Number of eligible voters – 816,478

Voter turnout – 53.55% or 437,212

Number of total ballots – 829,000

Number of used ballots – 391,039

Number of invalid ballots – 15,250

As a result, the ruling Republican Party of Armenia, the non-pro-government Prosperous Armenia Party, and the opposition “Barev, Yerevan” bloc will comprise the new Council of Elders of Yerevan.

To note, the CEC will issue the final election results on May 12.
