YEREVAN. - Armenian President Serzh Sargsyan to appoint legendary athlete, 1980 Summer Olympics champion, weightlifter Yuri Vardanyan as Minister for Sport and Youth, Armenian News-NEWS.am was informed by credible source, who refuses to reveal his identity.

At the moment, President Sargsyan arrived at the headquarters of the ruling Republican Party of Armenia, to participate in the meeting of RPA executive body and the Council. The ruling party plans to discuss the issues related to the new state government, as the former government resigned on April 9 and re-elected Armenian President Serzh Sargsyan will appoint new cabinet.

All attempts made by Armenian News-NEWS.am to contact either Yuri Vardanyan, who is currently presidential advisor on sports issues, or acting Minister for Sport and Youth Hrachya Rostomyan to obtain more information, were not successful as the athlete and the acting minister did not answer the calls.
