YEREVAN. – There is a direct correlation between elections and prices, Armenian Consumers’ Association Chairman Armen Poghosyan stated during a press conference on Friday.

As per Poghosyan, the prices in Armenia have always risen following an election in the country.

To the query as to the kind of changes that are observed after the most recent elections, the Armenian Consumers’ Association head stated that there is not solely a nominal but also a criminal rise in prices. That is, if the price remains the same, the weight or the quality of a given product drops. According to him, such cases are recorded when it comes to bread and sugar.

Armen Poghosyan stated that he had petitioned to the President of Armenia, with a request to set up teams to carry out respective inspections, but they have not received a response to this day.
