The European Union hopes soon to conclude an Association Agreement to deepen Armenia's political association and economic integration with the EU, including a deep and comprehensive Free Trade Area (DCFTA).

The official Brussels hopes that in November in Vilnius at the “Eastern Partnership” summit to pre-sign the Armenia-EU Association Agreement and a Deep and Comprehensive Free Trade Area Agreement, the European Commissioner for Enlargement and European Neighborhood Policy Stefan Fule told Radio Liberty.

Fule also emphasized that EU hopes to achieve a serious and visible progress on the upcoming summit in November, where the leaders of the EU member states will sit at the round table with six countries of the former Soviet Union, including Armenia.

“We hope that the specific outcome of the summit for Armenia will be a pre-signed Association Agreement and an Agreement on the Establishment of Deep and Comprehensive Free Trade Area. This is a very difficult process, which involves bringing Armenia’s legislation to conformity with the main part of European legislation. So, this is a serious task,” Stefan Fule stressed. “In addition, we hope that the Visa Facilitation and Readmission Agreements between Armenia and EU will take effect as soon as all procedures are completed.”
