YEREVAN. – Armenia’s political forces were unable to bring facts on voting fraud, except for raising this matter.

Ruling Republican Party National Assembly (NA) Faction leader, RPA Supreme Body member Galust Sahakyan noted the abovementioned during a press conference on Monday.

Sahakyan noted that instead of searching within itself why this is so, the opposition is blaming the authorities.

“If we do not have an opposition, it will be difficult for us to keep our victory [that was achieved in the elections]. If there is no opposition, the model of governance remains incomplete. The opposition was perceived by the people as holders of [public] meetings, but the people return to their homes in despair,” the RPA NA Faction leader said.

Sahakyan stressed that the recent capital city Yerevan municipal elections proved that the authorities will be able to fulfill their promises through effective work and the results of this work will be seen by the society.

He added that the election observers likewise do not have any facts concerning voting fraud and they are simply repeating what the opposition says.

“We are not the best, but there is no one better than us, either, to be able to hold an election,” he noted.

In the RPA official’s words, the people are upset with the authorities, and the state systems should care for the people and be able to respect human rights.

“If there is no opposition, we will be both our opposition and our authorities. That is why we say the presence of the opposition is a serious factor for the development of the state. Of course, we likewise have shortcomings,” Galust Sahakyan added.
