YEREVAN. – Armenia is interested in holding foreign policy of complementarity, MP from ruling party said.

Artak Zakaryan, head of the Armenian parliament’s standing committee on foreign affairs, said political behavior is conditioned by external changes.

“Armenian government is faced with multifaceted challenges. Because of this, the foreign policy of our country has always been a multi-vector one,” he told reporters on Monday.

Forecasts indicate that such a policy would meet the national interests of Armenia in a long-time perspective, he assured.  This is due to the need to ensure the security of Armenia, including energy and food safety.

“So, I see no reason to revise the vectors of our foreign policy,” Zakaryan said.

The situation may be modified by a number of regional factors, including the integration of Turkey into the Middle East developments, the upcoming elections in Georgia and Azerbaijan.

As for Armenia itself, its peacekeeping role and active involvement in international processes inspire the respect of the international community. This refers to participation in the Eastern Partnership project, presidency in the Ministerial Committee of the Council of Europe as well as active participation in the CSTO.
