YEREVAN. – The accusations by the opposition in Armenia turned out to be unfounded.

Ruling Republican Party (RPA) MP, National Assembly Standing Committee on Foreign Relations Chairman, Artak Zakaryan stated the aforesaid during a press conference on Monday, commenting on the recent capital city Yerevan municipal election where RPA achieved victory.

In Zakaryan’s words, after the vote the opposition stated, “about the assumed election irregularities.”

“It is natural that such statements can be checked always. But the recounting [of the votes] showed that RPA’s votes increase in some places, [and] the votes of other [political] forces change by 1-2 indicator in some places. The difference of 1-2 votes is not a difference, but rather an error,” the RPA MP said.

In his words, the reports on voting fraud have always been at the focus of law enforcement.

“The statements on such violations become a topic for public discussion, but we can see that such statements were unfounded,” Artak Zakaryan concluded.
