YEREVAN. – Prosperous Armenia party decided to assume its seats in the capital city Yerevan Council of Elders.

Spokesperson for the party Tigran Urikhanyan told Armenian News-NEWS.am that they will answer to 100,000 votes of the Yerevan residents by active work. Majority of the party shares this opinion, although various statements were voiced, he said.

“Our representatives will work not in the municipality building but directly in the capital's communities,” he assured.

However, Urikhanyan did not disclose the names of those who will assume the seats in the Yerevan Council.

Armenian Central Electoral Commission (CEC) on Sunday summed up the final results of the Yerevan Council of Elders election that was held on May 5. 

As a result, CEC adopted a decision on the election of the council members, and in line with this decision, the council members are as follows:

Ruling Republican Party of Armenia, with 42 seats; non-pro-government Prosperous Armenia Party, with 17 seats; and opposition Heritage Party-led “Barev [Hello], Yerevan” bloc, with 6 seats. 

The aforesaid decision also states that the voting irregularities, which had taken place, could not have impacted the outcome of the election.
