YEREVAN. – Armenia’s Foreign Affairs Minister Edward Nalbandian, who is in Paris on an official visit, on Monday met with his French colleague, Laurent Fabius.

Nalbandian noted that France and Armenia are bonded by special relations and it is only natural that he is paying one of his first visits to France after being reappointed as the Armenian FM, Armenian MFA press service informs.

The two ministers recorded that the interactions between both countries are developing, and stressed the importance of expanding economic cooperation. The Armenian and French FMs reflected on the steps to develop collaboration.

The interlocutors also discussed Armenia-EU relations, Armenia’s forthcoming presidency at the Council of Europe, and the relations along the lines of the International Organization of La Francophonie.

The Nagorno-Karabakh peace process likewise was on the agenda of the talks. Highly appreciating France’s constructive engagement in this process as a co-chairing country in the OSCE Minsk Group, Edward Nalbandian reaffirmed Armenia’s readiness to continue the joint efforts, with the Minsk Group co-chairing countries, toward a peaceful settlement to the conflict.

In addition, the FMs of Armenia and France exchanged views with respect to several matters that are on the international agenda.
