YEREVAN. – The talks concerning the price of natural gas are the internal affair of Armenia and Russia, stated US Ambassador to Armenia, John Heffern, during a press conference on Friday. 

To a query as to whether he is satisfied by the customs procedures and the economic competition in Armenia, the American diplomat responded that this is one of the main topics of discussion between the US Embassy and the Armenian party.

“Each party may continue to improve itself in this domain, [and] at its own interests. We see such willingness by the Armenian authorities, and we stand ready to assist them,” Heffern explained.

He added that transparency in economy is very important in terms of fair competition, as everyone benefits from this.

To a news reporters question as to whether this matter was discussed with the Government of Armenia, the US ambassador replied, “Always.” And in response to the additional query on the government’s respective response, John Heffern said:

“We see the understanding of the importance of this matter.”
