YEREVAN. – All elections that were held in Azerbaijan were illegitimate because its Armenian community of one million was unable to participate in them.   

Chairman Grigori Ayvazyan of the Assembly of Azerbaijan Armenians stated the aforesaid during a press conference on Friday.

As per Ayvazyan, “The Turkish community of Azerbaijan will be present at the presidential election with numerous candidates,” moreover, at the level of incumbent president Ilham Aliyev. But the same cannot be said about the country’s Armenian community.   

“Through participation by the Armenian community, there is an historic opportunity this time to organize truly competitive elections in Azerbaijan. We have a team of solid supporters and, once we receive security guarantees, we will be prepared to travel to Baku,” the head of the Assembly of Azerbaijan Armenians stated.

Grigori Ayvazyan added, however, that if his application is not accepted, Azerbaijan will prove its fascist essence yet again, and that it has no rights to make any claims to Nagorno-Karabakh.
