YEREVAN. – Along the lines of a greenhouse development program in Armenia, two greenhouses for growing strawberries are put into operation in Artashat and in Ijevan cities.
Six types of strawberries, which were imported from the leading European countries in this domain, are grown in these greenhouses with an area of 1,500 square meters. These types have a good exterior look, a high-quality taste, and, unlike the local strawberries, they can be grown all year round.
The strawberries in these greenhouses are grown with the use of modern technology. As per international experts, Armenia has favorable conditions to grow high-value berries in greenhouses.
The first step in this direction will be to grow strawberries in Armenia during their non-seasonal period (late autumn, winter, early spring).
An important stimulus for this process is the program which provides loan guarantees to start-up entrepreneurs, and thus enabling them to receive loans with favorable terms to establish greenhouses.
