YEREVAN. – Making arrangements with the natural gas supplying countries is not easy for any country. 

Armenian Prime Minister Tigran Sargsyan noted the aforesaid, during Monday’s National Assembly session, responding to the query by opposition MP, Free Democrats Party Chairman Khachatur Kokobelyan.  

“Today, the government is making use of all levers so that gas [to Armenia] is supplied more affordably; we are doing everything for this. The highest-level political negotiations are in progress; the objective being to find solutions that will enable to reduce the price of gas,” Sargsyan said. 

He recalled that he has petitioned to the Public Services Regulatory Commission to reduce by 30 percent the Russian natural gas price that is fixed at the border.

“Once we introduce the contract with Russia, we will present the subsidy mechanisms,” the PM noted.

In Tigran Sargsyan’s words, thanks to the Armenian government’s efforts, the natural gas prices in the country remained unchanged in the last three years and discussions were held, with the Russian partners, to supply gas at the cheapest prices.
