YEREVAN. – We have shortcomings and very serious problems in connection with aviation.

Armenian Prime Minister Tigran Sargsyan stated the aforementioned, during Monday’s National Assembly session, responding to a question posed by opposition MP, former FM Alexander Arzumanyan. 

In the PM’s words, they are currently discussing, with international airline companies and analysts, as to which model should be selected for Armenia. That is, to completely liberalize the aviation sector, or to create a national carrier, with involvement by the state.   

In connection with the British Airways, Sargsyan noted that this company ended its flights to Armenian capital city Yerevan and Georgian capital city Tbilisi, alike, and this occurred along the lines of their overall strategy.     

Tigran Sargsyan also informed that Yerevan’s Zvartnots International Airport will be considered as a transit destination, and advantages will be offered to those airline companies that use this airport.
