YEREVAN. – A new technical procedure is being designed in Armenia the check the presence of pesticides in plants, an expert from a private laboratory told Armenian News-NEWS.am.
“At present, the fresh vegetables in the republic are inspected in terms of two compounds: Hexachlorocyclohexane and DDT, which are banned. But there are about 300 permitted pesticides with respect to which inspections are not conducted. The matter is not yet settled from the legal perspective, and the new procedure will address this,” the expert stated.
The respective project is submitted for the discussion by the concerned departments, and it is expected to be accepted as a government decision.
