YEREVAN. – One of the two bio toilets in Armenia has a technical malfunction and its fixing requires expenditures, Economy Minister Vahram Avanesyan noted during Thursday’s Cabinet meeting.  

The minister was presenting the Control Chamber report on the activities of the Ministry of Economy. 

According to this report, the expenses that were made to install these two bio toilets in Armenia are unproductive because both of them do not function, albeit 100 million drams (approx. $239,979) was spent on them.   

In his turn, PM Tigran Sargsyan said this was a pilot project, and these bio toilets should have covered their own costs and contributed to the development of tourism in Armenia.  

“But the project did not yield results. Now, we await an analysis as to how to solve this problem,” Sargsyan said.    

It was noted, however, that these bio toilets were acquired through off-budget accounts.
