YEREVAN. – Some problems arose in the Russian-Azerbaijani relations in the past two years, and, by way of the recent meeting between the Russian and the Azerbaijani FMs, and attempt was made to give positive impetus to the cooperation.

Armenian political scientist Narek Galstyan stated the aforesaid during a press conference on Thursday.

“Not only do these two states share boundaries, but they also have the same strategic environment. Russia cannot act against Azerbaijan without reason, and Azerbaijan cannot overlook Russia’s interests in the region,” Galstyan noted, and stressed that this is why Russia and Azerbaijan are trying to find common grounds for cooperation.

“[But] their relations have never been inimical. In reality, this is about a great potential for cooperation,” Narek Galstyan argued, and added that Russia has its interests and it does not conduct a pro-Armenian policy.
