YEREVAN. – The European Union and the Customs Union systems of standards will create a need for selection for Armenia.

Vasily Boytsov, the Director of the Technical Regulation and Accreditation Department of the Joint Economic Commission, told the aforementioned to Armenian News-NEWS.am. 

The Joint Economic Commission delegation on Thursday visited the Armenian National Institute of Standards.

The principal difference between the standards and directives of the European Union and the Customs Union is not that much, but a product that is certified with one standard has to pass an additional inspection with the other standard.     

“That is why if Armenia begins to build its standardization system on the EU model, the Armenian goods that cross the Customs Union will have to go through an additional inspection in accordance with our standards. The question is to what extent it is beneficial for the Armenian side to make so much effort,” Boytsov noted.
