YEREVAN. – Armenia’s Public Services Regulatory Commission learnt about increase in gas price back on April 1, MP from the opposition party said.
However, the Commission said it learnt about the changes only on May 13, Levon Zurabyan said during the Friday press conference.
“There is an official treaty. However, the information was not disclosed because of the Yerevan municipal elections. This proves the authorities were aware of changes in gas price ahead of the presidential vote but concealed information for obvious reasons,” he noted.
He also recalled that the October 24, 2012 he was trying to clarify reports on whether they decided to sell 20% of shares of ArmRusGazprom for AMD 63 billion for the gas price to stand at $180.
However, because of the mess, the government has abandoned the idea and paid another way.
“The fact that the authorities have concealed information about gas price is a machination. They will have to answer for it,” he said.
