All seventeen injured, who were transferred to Armenia’s Noyemberyan city medical center, are discharged, Center Director Ashot Gyozalyan told Armenian News-NEWS.am.  

“Those undergoing outpatient examination have signed and were discharged on their own volition, [and] upon their request, we transferred two others to Gyumri [city],” he added.  

Reflecting on Liana Mkrtchyan, 17, who was considered to be in a very critical condition, Gyozalyan informed that the girl was transferred to capital city Yerevan Republican Hospital.   

The Tavush Region Investigation Department has opened a criminal case into the accident, the Lori regional reporter of Armenian News-NEWS.am informs.   

To note, a call was received, on Sunday at 8:42am, informing that a Mercedes-model passenger minibus had turned over nearby Ptghavan village of Tavush Region and, as a result, one person had died and eighteen others had sustained injuries. 

It was found out that the minibus had gone off road and turned over, for yet unknown reasons, at the Noyemberyan-Bagratashen highway. As a result, passenger Avetik Torosyan, 52, had died on the spot, and thirteen passengers were taken to the Noyemberyan city medical center. Liana Mkrtchyan, 17, was considered to be in a very critical condition.

According to eyewitnesses, the cause of the accident was speeding.

The minibus was heading from Armenia’s City of Gyumri to Russia’s City of Rostov.
