YEREVAN. – The matter of dismissing several regional governors is discussed in the backstage of Armenia’s authorities, Haykakan Zhamanak daily reports.

“According to our sources at the [ruling] Republican Party [RPA], this matter will be resolved by the end of June. There were talks, during the past NA [i.e., National Assembly] four-day [session], that former NA MP, RPA member Gagik Melikyan will be appointed in place of Tavush’s RPA-member regional governor Armen Ghularyan.

The ruling circles are also saying that Deputy Minister of Sport [and Youth Affairs] Khachik Asryan could replace Syunik Regional Governor Suren Khachatryan.

[But] it is not yet clearly decided who will replace Kotayk Regional Governor Kovalenko Shahgaldyan. According to our sources, the [respective] decision probably will be made during the RPA executive’s session, which will be convened this or next week,” Haykakan Zhamanak writes.
