YEREVAN. – Armenian capital city Yerevan Mayor Taron Margaryan, who is in the Latvian capital city Riga on an official visit, attended a meeting with the mayors of the Swedish cities of Pori and Norcheping and of the Russian city of Pskov.

The mayors were invited to Riga along the lines of the song and dance festival being held in the Latvian capital.

Riga Mayor Nils Ušakovs stressed that this festival has a great importance for the Latvians, the Yerevan Municipality Information and Public Relations Department informs.

The mayors spoke about urban economy, and they presented the systems of governance and the priorities of their respective cities.

Margaryan stressed that such talks and direct contacts are a good opportunity to find parameters for mutually beneficial cooperation among cities. 

“Such meetings contribute to the establishment of partnership ties among cities because, in actual fact, all cities have similar problems. I hope partnership relations would be formed among our cities. Yerevan is always open and willing to conduct mutually beneficial cooperation,” noted the Mayor of Yerevan.
