YEREVAN. – Armenian parliament speaker Hovik Abrahamyan said he had not witnessed any pressure on Armenia on joining the Customs Union.
His comments came in response to reporters’ questions whether Russia exerted serious pressure on Armenia as it was stated by European officials.
“No one forced us to announce intention to join the Customs Union. This was stated by Armenian President, too,” Abrahamyan said.
During the Wednesday debate members of different groups of the European Parliament voiced harsh criticism against Russia for using energy resources as a tool to bloc the sovereign choice of a country.
