YEREVAN. – Armenia has always preserved a priority of allied relations with Russia during the negotiations with the EU, Armenian FM said on Friday.
Edward Nalbandian said the question whether Armenia could get more from the EU or Russia had not been raised.
“A statement made by the presidents of Armenia and Russia on September 3 indicates the nature of allied relations between Armenia and Russia and points to deep and close cooperation in all areas,” he said on the margins of Eastern Partnership informal meeting in Yerevan.
Negotiations on the DCFTA, he added, were carried out as one of those formats which will help develop the best relations between Armenia and the EU.
Following the talks that were held on September 3 in Moscow between Armenian and Russian Presidents Serzh Sargsyan and Vladimir Putin, Sargsyan had announced that Armenia plans to join the Customs Union and subsequently engage in the formation of the Eurasian Economic Union.
