Estimated cost of the first nuclear plant in Turkey with capacity of 4 GW might make $10bn, reads the Russian Strategy Development journal by RF Energy Ministry.

NPP in Turkey is planned to be built near the Mediterranean port Mersin. The offer by consortium includes the construction of 4 nuclear units having capacity of 1.2GW under the Russian “NPP-2006” project.

In the beginning of the current year Turkey and Russia agreed on construction of a NPP in Turkey. “However Russian and Turkish sides should still agree upon a number of issues, including the electricity rate produced in NPP, operation issues and validity of license for facility management,” said Energy Ministry.

The actual cost of the NPP in Turkey is yet unclear, a Russian official stated.
