YEREVAN. – Neither the presidents of Armenia and Azerbaijan nor the OSCE Minsk Group pin great hopes on the forthcoming talk between the two presidents. 

Caucasus Institute Deputy Director, political analyst Sergey Minasyan said the abovementioned at a press conference on Friday. 

In his words, the main achievement of the meeting between Presidents Serzh Sargsyan and Ilham Aliyev will be the fact that, after a two-year intermission, the Nagorno-Karabakh negotiation process will continue at the president’s level.

“It should be noted that this meeting was slated for June-July, but [Azerbaijani president] Aliyev had asked to reschedule it due to the presidential elections [in Azerbaijan].

“The main objective of the talk under new conditions is that, after the presidential elections, they are more uninhibited from the political context,” the analyst argued.  

Sergey Minasyan expressed a view that there may be common approaches on some matters, and this will enable to continue the dynamics of the negotiation process.
