YEREVAN. – Winning the November 10 mayoral elections in the City of Ararat was very important for the non-pro-government Prosperous Armenia Party (PAP) not solely politically, Zhamanak daily reports.

“According to Zhamanak’s information, the Araratcement Factory, which belongs to PAP leader Gagik Tsarukyan, has about a $20-million debt in property and land tax to Ararat Municipality.

“In fact, Tsarukyan had set a task of having his [own] mayor in Ararat at any cost, to avoid paying these taxes.

“[But] the thing is that he [also] managed to avoid paying these taxes during the tenure of the previous mayors of Ararat,” Zhamanak writes.
