YEREVAN. – Armenia’s accession to Customs Union will not affect pension reform, Government Chief of Staff-Minister Vache Gabrielyan stated on Monday.
Gabrielyan noted that the rumors alleging Armenia may change currency for the Russian ruble or any other currency are ungrounded, since Customs Union does not imply single currency,
“This is out of question. Therefore, thinking about what currency risks it would pose for pension reforms is a pointless action,” he assured.
The mandatory pension system will come into affect from January 1, 2014. Armenia voiced an intention to join Customs Union in September.
