YEREVAN. – Armenian Prime Minister Tigran Sargsyan’s working visit to the Russian Federation has kicked off.

But ahead of the session of the Council of Heads of Governments of the Commonwealth of Independent States (CIS) member countries, Sargsyan met with Kazakhstan PM Serik Akhmetov on Wednesday morning in Saint Petersburg.

The interlocutors discussed the prospects for the development of Armenian-Kazakh relations, informs the Armenian government press service. 

Specifically, they spoke about collaboration toward Armenia’s accession to the Customs Union, and stressed the need for conducting direct flights between Yerevan and Astana. In this context, PM Sargsyan informed that the Government of Armenia has liberalized the air space of the country. 

The two PMs also underscored the need to invigorate the activities of the Armenian-Kazakh Intergovernmental Commission, and they reflected on the avenues for cooperation in the domain of seed production. 

At the end of the talk, Serik Akhmetov invited Tigran Sargsyan to Kazakhstan.
