YEREVAN. – The government must support domestic flights, member of Armenia’s Public Council said.

Izabella Muradyan brought example of Georgia where 50 percent of domestic flights are subsidized by the government.

According to a representative of the new Armenian Skynet airline Gregory Vardanyan, the government can help with abolition of VAT on passenger domestic flights.

“This will help us to organize transport in Armenia,” he added.

Vazgen Safaryan, head of Domestic Commodity Producers’ Union, Armenia’s aviation needs government support.

“Economy will benefit from small aviation, both passenger and agricultural,” he said, adding that Armavia company that still has four planes can participate in the process.
