YEREVAN. – Armenia’s opposition National Self-Determination Union (NSU) Chairman, ex-presidential candidate Paruyr Hayrikyan on Tuesday learned from Armenian News-NEWS.am that, according to the statement posted on the European Commission website, President Serzh Sargsyan will participate in the European Union (EU) Eastern Partnership Summit.

To remind, the event will be convened on Thursday and Friday in Lithuanian capital city Vilnius.     

As a result of this news, Hayrikyan decided to end on the same day his three-day sit-in, which he had declared in front of the Presidential Palace. 

“If he is heading to Vilnius, I am ending my sit-in,” he said.

But Friday’s rally, which the NSU leader had announced, will be held.

To note, Paruyr Hayrikyan on Tuesday stated that he will stage a three-day sit-in across the Presidential Palace, and demand that Sargsyan participate in the Vilnius summit. Otherwise, Hayrikyan stated, that he would demand the president’s resignation.

According to the European Commission statement, the presidents of Azerbaijan, Georgia and Ukraine, the PM of Moldova, and the FM of Belarus likewise will attend the Vilnius summit.
