YEREVAN. – An administrative detainment has been carried out against five activists, the Police told Armenian News-NEWS.am.  

The activists have been charged with committing an administrative offense; specifically, not obeying police instructions.   

As Armenian News-NEWS.am informed earlier, capital city Yerevan’s Kentron Police Department on Monday detained several activists. According to preliminary data, Zaruhi Hovhannisyan, Olya Azatyan, Artur Petrosyan, and Babken Ter-Grigoryan have been detained. These activists had attempted to place posters, at a Downtown Yerevan  overpass, against Armenia’s decision to join the Russian-led Customs Union. At present, the police officers are at the home of activist Ani Kaghinyan and are trying to enter her apartment.

Armenia Today website coordinator, attorney Argishti Kiviryan is at the Kentron Police Department, but as an attorney.

To note, at the invitation of Armenian President Serzh Sargsyan, Russian President Vladimir Putin will pay a state visit to Armenia on Monday. And several Armenian initiatives and activists plan to carry out, on the same day, a variety of protests against Putin’s visit.
