YEREVAN. – The statesmen of Armenia have become serfs and concubines.

Opposition National Self-Determination Union (NSU) Chairman, ex-presidential candidate Paruyr Hayrikyan stated the above-said at a press conference on Wednesday.

Hayrikyan noted that an attempt is being made to gladden Armenia with some Russian natural gas “spare change.”

“In contrast to this, we received an offer from Iran that they can provide gas at more advantageous prices,” the NSU leader noted.

He also stated that the Russian railways is the most undeveloped.

“Joining the [Russian-led] Customs Union was the most degrading move in the lives of our people. Relations with Russia should be maintained just as with Indonesia or Turkey, no more,” Hayrikyan said.   

He added that, in reality, solely 23 percent of the Armenian people were in favor of the Customs Union.     

Paruyr Hayrikyan informed that even though they will conduct a new survey in Armenia, he is certain that those favoring the Customs Union will not exceed 30 percent.
