YEREVAN. – The Nature Protection Ministry of Armenia carried out over twenty programs this year, Minister Aram Harutyunyan said at a press conference on Friday.

First, Harutyunyan spoke about the water level of Lake Sevan. He noted that the current level is at 1,900.16 meters above sea level; that is, the lake’s water level has risen 5-6 centimeters. The level has risen by 3.82 meters as compared to twelve years ago, and they have a six-year progressive indicator.     

The minister noted, however, that there are problems in connection with the water transparency and the endemic natural habitat, but he added that work is done in this direction.  

Aram Harutyunyan stressed that hard work was conducted this year in terms of water resources, they have six water basins, and there are more problems in the Ararat Valley.
