YEREVAN. – The “dethronement” taking place in Armenia compels to be concerned and accept that we have found ourselves in an absurd situation for the first time in our long history.    

Opposition Pre-Parliament initiative coordinator Garegin Chugaszyan stated the above-said at a press conference on Friday. 

In Chugaszyan’s words, this is the first time after Armenia’s independence that the Armenians seem to be prepared to surrender the Armenian state. 

“Armenia is facing a loss of statehood. The accelerated rate of emigration is known to us all. We again face the peril of Artsakh’s [i.e., Nagorno-Karabakh] separation from Armenia. We see that there is a regime [in Armenia] that has appropriated power and serves foreign powers,” the opposition member said.         

Garegin Chugaszyan added that not solely are the Armenian state and sovereignty imperiled, but the trends observed in the region may cause the Armenians’ physical destruction in their historical homeland.
