On April 14, the protect action of Azerbaijani oppositional Musavat party in front of Baku’s Mayoralty was brutally dispersed by the police. Over 30 demonstrators were arrested and beaten up, Turan agency reports.
The opposition activists gathered to protest at the Mayoralty’s refusal to authorize their demonstrations for several years, however the Mayoralty refused to authorize their action.
The first group of protestors was detained near Icheri Sheher subway station. The oppositionists chanted slogans demanding to authorize the meeting. People in civvies attacked them, put into the buses and took in unknown direction.
Other oppositional groups were arrested not far from Mayoralty, beaten up and put into the buses. According to latest data, the total number of detainees reached 36.
