Armenia’s foreign trade turnover showed a 29% increase in the first quarter of 2010 as compared with the corresponding period last year. Last year a consistent upward trend in the foreign trade turnover was halted, and the country’s foreign trade turnover showed a 27% decrease. Imports decreased by 25.3%, exports by 34%. The share of imports in Armenia’s foreign trade reached 82.6%.

Early this year the share of imports was 80.4% — it decreased down to the pre-crisis level in 2008. This January-March, exports showed a 60.9% increase against a 23.1% increase in imports. The progress can be put down to a favorable situation on the world market for the Armenian mining industry.
