April 21, Juan Antonio Samaranch — honorary life president of the International Olympic Committee (IOC), died at the age of 89 in one of Barcelona hospitals, AFP reports referring to hospital source.
Juan Antonio Samaranch headed IOC for over 20 years from 1980-2001 replaced by Jacques Rogge.
Samaranch was hospitalized on April 20.
