The OSCE Minsk Group Co-Chairs speak with a very diplomatic, a very delicate language. 

The Minister of Foreign Affairs of Armenia, Edward Nalbandian, stated the aforementioned speaking to reporters in Basel, Switzerland, and with respect to the most recent Minsk Group statement. 

“The Co-Chairs are once again stressed that there is no alternative to the resolution of the [Nagorno-Karabakh] conflict by way of talks, pacific methods. It is clear to whom this is addressed. It has been repeatedly stated at the level of the President of Armenia, at various other levels, that we need to resolve the problem peacefully, by way of talks,” Nalbandian noted. “In their statement, the three Co-Chairs especially stress that steps need to be taken to strengthen the ceasefire. Who is this addressed to? It is Azerbaijan which always violates, does not respect them.”   

In the Armenian FM’s words, this was yet another opportunity for the Co-Chairs to stress the importance of the ceasefire because, unfortunately, Azerbaijan conducted quite large-scale military operations this year.  

“Second, what humanism can we speak about when Azerbaijan was keeping the [Karabakh] helicopter crash site under intense fire during the ten days after the shoot-down of the helicopter?

“The three Co-Chairs say that this tragedy could have been avoided. 

“After the previous statement, Azerbaijan blustered against the three Co-Chairs. 

“In yesterday’s statement, the Co-Chairs are urging the parties [to the conflict], they are again speaking in the language of the mediators, but it is clear that it is addressed to Azerbaijan, since it is clear [that] it is [official] Baku which violates the ceasefire.

“It is also clear that if Azerbaijan always rejects the proposal of the mediators, it takes on full responsibility for the consequences,” Edward Nalbandian specifically noted.
