YEREVAN. – The recognition and condemnation of the Armenian Genocide without reparations is unacceptable and senseless.
Modus Vivendi Center Director, political scientist Ara Papyan stated the aforementioned at Saturday’s discussions devoted to the recognition of and reparations for the Armenian Genocide.
Papyan also asked: Are recognition and condemnation required for reparations? And will reparations follow recognition and condemnation?
“I’ve interacted with various senior Turkish scholars and politicians who recognize the Armenian Genocide. But when it comes to reparation, especially territorial, they say, ‘Forget about it!’” Papyan noted.
Consequently, in his conviction, there is no need to hope that the Turkish society can be brought to an awareness of making reparations. As per the analyst, the only way for making reparations is by forcing Turkey to do so.
“Armenia should do that through the already existing international agreements,” Ara Papyan added.
