YEREVAN. – Genocide, as a crime against humanity, has become the problem of not solely Armenia, but of all mankind.
The Speaker of the Armenian National Assembly (NA) of Armenia, Galust Sahakyan, stated the aforementioned at Monday’s joint news conference with Danilo Astori, the Vice President and the Speaker of the Chamber of Senators of Uruguay.
Sahakyan also thanked the Uruguayan guest for his sincere remarks in the NA, and added that the Armenian nation will appreciate the severe and uncompromising condemnation of the crime against humanity.
As per the Armenian parliament leader, Uruguay’s respective position is very close to that of progressive humanity.
“You would think it was by the providence of will that the president of the Senate of Uruguay, the first country in 1965 to recognize the Armenian Genocide, came to visit us at the threshold of the centenary of the Armenian Genocide.
“We want for the guests arriving from that country to feel at home [here in Armenia],” Sahakyan added.
