YEREVAN. – Ever since the establishment of diplomatic relations between Armenia and China, the contacts are developing quite dynamically.
The newly appointed Chinese Ambassador to Armenia, Tiang Erlung, noted the aforementioned during his talk Tuesday with Galust Sahakyan, Speaker of the National Assembly (NA) of Armenia.
The Armenian parliament leader congratulated the ambassador on commencing his diplomatic mission in Armenia, and wished him fruitful work for the benefit of Armenian-Chinese friendship, the NA press service informed.
Sahakyan underscored the high-level political contacts between the two countries. He also highlighted the role of parliamentary diplomacy, and expressed his willingness to assist in the invigoration of Armenian-Chinese interparliamentary ties. In addition, he highly praised the joint programs between both countries.
Reflecting on the Nagorno-Karabakh conflict, the NA chairman noted that Armenia adheres to the principle of negotiations to resolve this matter and highly appreciates China’s balanced position on this issue.
Speaking on the forthcoming centenary of the Armenian Genocide, Galust Sahakyan expressed the hope that China will participate in the respective commemoration events to be held in April 2015.
Tiang Erlung, for his part, noted that it is a great honor and responsibility for him to be the ambassador of China in Armenia. He, too, gave a high evaluation to cooperation between the parliaments of the two friendship countries. In the ambassador’s words, China attaches great importance to making relations with Armenia grow deeper. The Chinese diplomat also underscored collaboration in numerous domains, and expressed the hope that the Nagorno-Karabakh conflict will be resolved through peace talks.
