YEREVAN. – The commerce in all duty-free stores in Armenia will be conducted without the value-added tax (VAT), Minister of Economy Karen Chshmarityan stated at Thursday’s Cabinet session.
He noted that, at present, such stores operate not solely in the airports of the country, but its land borders; i.e., the railway stations, and the highways.
Unlike the shops in the airports, however, the stores operating in the land borders of Armenia are not exempt from the VAT.
“The respective bill proposes to eliminate this disparity,” the minister explained.
